Residential Project:
Demolition Plan

For this assignment, I recreated a provided floor plan in ¼” scale utilizing correct line weights. My clients wish to remodel their one- bedroom apartment. They want to open up the small kitchen to the living area to create
a more open-plan environment. Existing appliances will be reused but the cabinetry will be replaced. In
addition, they want the study to become a second bedroom with a closet. All doors will be replaced. All
windows will be replaced with windows the same size currently used. All demolition is shown with a dashed line. I placed the demo plan on a 11"x17" plan sheet. I made sure to include an N arrow and add dimensions of the demolition. I drew this at a 1/4" scale on a sheet of vellum.

THE HAWTHORNE HOUSE

Demolition
Hawthorne House
This home was made in 1927, which means features of the home are dated. Such as the walls, they are made of lath and plaster with 10’-0” ceilings. My clients are a young 21st Century family with a desire for an open concept interior. On this floor plan, I created a 12’-0” opening between the den and dining room and set up the kitchen cabinets and appliances for demolition. Making sure to change the line weights to hidden dashed on AutoCAD

Construction
Hawthorne House
After demolition is the construction phase, I recreated a new kitchen cabinet layout from scratch. I also added detailed kitchen appliances and furniture, area rugs, etc. to make this house into a home.

Elevations
Hawthorne House
I created two elevation drawings that represent the kitchen of the Hawthorne house. With this project I was able to design freely and created cabinets, appliances and backsplashes that I feel compliment the home itself and it's new renovation.

Details
Hawthorne House
The conclusion of my construction documents are these millwork detail drawings of the kitchen cabinets and the walls of the home. I created 2 base cabinets, 1 upper cabinet and 1 wall type. These drawings show what goes into building walls and cabinets. They also give the client and contractor a guide to what is being used and what goes into the elevations.
